Protein Supplements
Not all protein shakes are the same.
Opt for quality over quantity.
Tips for Buying Protein Supplements
• Should have at least 20 grams of protein per serving or more
• Should have less than 15 g of sugar per serving
• Should have less than 250 calories per serving
What is Protein
And Why Do We Need It?
Protein is a macronutrient that helps build muscle mass which helps boost the metabolism. A healthy amount of protein provides the body with the right amount of calories to keep the body fueled while promoting good health.

Tips for Using Protein Supplements
• Never add protein powder to boiling liquids; this will cause clumping.
• Protein drinks need to be finished within 1 hour of opening or mixing; proteins begin to break down
and degrade resulting in a protein drink that is lower in quality and less absorbable by the body.
• The body can only absorb about 20-40 grams of protein within 1 hour of ingesting; the body may not
use more than this amount in one sitting.
