Prior to surgery, I tried to lose weight on my own… I was on keto – off and on. I worked out.. mostly walking because everything else was painful and my feet were constantly hurting. I would lose some, but as soon as I let up on the diet and exercise I would gain it all back and then some.
To some, this was the lazy way out. To some, I just needed to work out more and eat less. To some, I did it only to look better for the wedding. BUT to me, it was my “Hail Mary” to getting control of my health. To me, it was the scare of being 1 POINT from being diagnosed with diabetes. To me, it was a way for me to have the energy to dance like I used to, walk without pain, and smile in the mirror without faking it. I was miserable.. silently.. but nonetheless. I don’t regret it… not one bit!
In 6 months, I have lost 79 lbs. I have lost 67.75 inches, but it has been the non-scale victories that have been even more exciting to me!
*My A1C went from a 6.4 to a 5.4 within 3 months of my surgery.
* I was constantly dealing with some ailment, but since surgery, I haven’t been sick at all.
* I can ride on my Peloton for 20-30 minutes without being out of breath!
* I went from buying a wedding dress size 24 to needing to buy a size 14!
* I can fit in a seatbelt on a plane easily.
* My daughter can wrap all of her arms around me and can even grab her wrists.
* My feet don’t hurt anymore – I can wear normal tennis shoes without any pain.
All I can say is that this was the best decision for ME. It truly feels like I am in the prime of my health.. and I turn 37 next week!
This is just a little bit of my testimony. I could go on and on.
