Before surgery, I felt anxious about going anywhere. Out with friends, meeting new people & even going inside my son’s school gave me the worst anxiety. I woke up every day with back pain, headaches & just feeling low energy. Even just walking to the mailbox exhausted me. I have a special needs son and I worried about my health and the possibility of not being around long enough to care for him.
I considered surgery for years. Even scheduled consultations, just to cancel them. My insurance did not cover weight loss surgery and I worried about the cost too much to even see what other options were available. We went camping and river floating with some friends and I was exhausted the whole time and had trouble keeping up, not to mention the way I looked in pictures. Then, I finally decided enough was enough and started researching surgery again.
From my consultation, I just felt like I was in the right hands. Everyone was so friendly and made me feel like I would be cared for. Dr. Stowers took his time with me, answered my questions and gave me some realistic outcome probabilities.
I am now almost 6 months post op & I’m down over 100 lbs. I have energy & have developed a love for exercising. My anxiety is gone, I don’t feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I still have goals to reach but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just feel like my body is matching with how I always felt like I
could be.
