My entire life I had been miserable. I was diagnosed with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. When I would go anywhere, I would lose my breath really easily. Once my knees started to hurt, my back would ache, and I just always felt like I was trapped in this other body. I knew it was time for a change. I had seen other people who had the surgery and began to research it. Some people would tell me, and still do tell me, that having the surgery is a cop-out and that I should be able to lose it on my own. If I would just put my mind to it and wanted it bad enough…
Well, I did want it…so much so, that I called Dr. Stowers’ office to see what the process consisted of. I had finally reached the point where I had tried everything and since I was so heavy and always in so much pain, exercise was no longer an option. I felt desperate and anxious to have a “”normal”” life.
From the very beginning, everyone was so knowledgeable and helpful. I was ready for the next step and was serious about taking control of my life back and getting healthy, the rest was history. The staff was always there to answer any questions I had, they worked with my insurance companies, they walked me through every stage with open hearts and minds. I always felt like I was in excellent hands.
This summer we went to a water park and I was actually able to enjoy myself with my children instead of just being the designated “”stuff watcher.”” I am starting to have so much fun with my family. Traveling and doing more things with my kids is helping us be closer. My anxiety and depression are practically non-existent now…and the pain relief has been phenomenal.
